The Animal Rescue Site, www.theanimalrescuesite.com, was founded to help feed and care for some of the unwanted animals that are given to shelters in the US every year. Over 22 million bowls of food were provided for animals in need during 2002, the Animal Rescue Site's first year of operation. With a click of the purple Feed an Animal in Need button, visitors to the site donate food each day to formerly neglected or abused animals now living in shelters or sanctuaries You pay nothing. Site sponsors pay for all funding, which benefits two leading animal welfare charities: The Fund for Animals and North Shore Animal League America. The Fund for Animals was founded in 1967 by author Cleveland Amory, who served unpaid as the organization's president until his death in 1998. Dedicated "to speak for those who can't," the fund uses education, litigation, legislation, and hands-on care to work for the protection of wildlife and domestic animals. Founded in 1944, the North Shore Animal League America is a non-profit humane organization supported 100% by voluntary donations. The League is dedicated to finding the best possible home for each pet in its care even if the pet is blind, deaf or otherwise disabled. Through its programs the League has saved over 800,000 lives worldwide. The number of animals helped depends on the number of visitors to the site. This visit can make a dramatic difference in the lives of vulnerable pets and wildlife. Please go to www.theanimalrescuesite.com daily and click the Feed an Animal in Need button. On June 15, 2005 that simple action provided 97,118 bowls of nutritious food to unwanted animals. | |
