Membership

The Organization of Independent Artists is a not-for-profit organization, verified under section 501(c)(3), that was founded in 1976 by artists to provide a wide range of support services for their fellow artists. OIA is guided by the priniple that artistic expresion is a vehicle that transcends economic, political, and cultural boundaries.

Since its inception, OIA has sponsored member artist-curated group exhibitions, held in public and alternative spaces wherever available. OIA is proud of its many exhibits that have benefitted over 8,000 artists over the past 30 years. Members receive our quarterly newsletter, which features articles of interest to artists, information about fellow members, opportunities for exhibitions, grants, ect. An active artists registry of member's work is maintained. We now link our members' websites to ours.
